CREATING SUCCESSFUL RESOLUTIONS
When it comes down to achieving goals, it’s so important to understand exactly what it is that you want. When I was a young child, I learned something very significant regarding goal achievement, and the funny thing is that I learned it without even knowing that it was something so important.
It all started with a tradition that my family practiced every year. Every New Years Eve, as we celebrated bringing in the New Year at midnight, my grandmother had me eat twelve grapes, each representing one month of the New Year. She would tell me to think about 12 things that I wanted to achieve that year, and if I closed my eyes and really wished for it, all those things would come true. I did this routine for many years, and every New Years right at midnight I would eat my 12 grapes, close my eyes very tight and wish for all my desires for that year. My grandmother also told me that this would work better if I would include wishes for other people, rather than wish things only for myself.
After many years of my New Years routine, I decided to add a new element, and I began to write down all my wishes on a piece of paper. I was probably in my mid teens when I decided to do this. A couple of years ago, my wife and I bought a new house, and in the process of moving I came across a very old wallet. In it I found one of my old lists with all of my wishes from many, many years ago. As I read it, I was so shocked and happy to realize that I had achieved every single one of my wishes on that list!
One of things that played a very important role in this process of achievement in my life, was the conviction that I had in my mind--that this process my grandmother taught me would work without a doubt.
In my book “The Master Method”, I describe the process of achievement in 4 basic steps: DECIDE, CONDITION, PLAN, and CREATE.
The first step to really achieve anything is to very clearly DECIDE what you want to achieve. Form a clear picture of exactly what you want, and know without a doubt that you WILL achieve it!
The second step—CONDITION your mind for success—is to create and maintain a positive mind, and learn to feel good and find positivity in every situation you encounter. It’s not enough just to say, “I’ll be positive!” You have to train your mind to truly BECOME positive. If you need help with this there are many books that can help you with this part of the process, or you can get “The Master Method” and read chapter 2!
The third step is to PLAN—writing your goal and your plan down on paper is very powerful, and it will make you accountable, it will break your goal down into small realistic steps, and it will help remind you of your INTENTIONS. It doesn’t have to be a perfect plan, but it has to be a flexible plan. Once you take the first step, you will discover if it is working or not, and if it is not working, you have to change/modify the plan--not your goal!
The fourth step—CREATE—describes how to implement and really stick to your plan. Do what you need to do to get the job done! And the most important part of this is the ATTITUDE in which you execute every task. Your attitude will determine how difficult or smooth each task will be, and it will ultimately determine the success or failure of your entire plan. Do EVERYTHING with enthusiasm and excitement. You will find yourself victorious in the end!
I hope these tips are helpful in guiding you on your path to creating the life of your dreams, and helping you achieve success, prosperity and most importantly inner peace in this wonderful New Year. Happy 2012!
Best wishes,
Master Marco
